Respect

Posted on 19 October 2014

This blog invites you to contribute to the school ideas about respect.

Over the last term we have been exploring the school values. The three that are still to be highlighted are respect, integrity and community participation for community good.

Respect is a core school value and a value highlighted in the New Zealand curriculum. Our school rule is "Respect self, Respect others and Respect environment”

In a discussion I had with Mrs Forsyth (our special needs co-ordinator) we wondered if some of our students understand what respect means and how respect is acted out.

Over the next few weeks and before the end of November we are going to develop a simple statement that tells children the actions that show respect for self, respect for others and respect for the environment.

I will ask the students to contribute their ideas. I thought you might like to contribute your ideas on this blog. Then I will have a small group of students choose the statements they think fit our school best.

Here is an example of an acrostic poem about respect. You could consider using this format if you want to contribute
